Mono / Poly

Mono/Poly is a board game that allows players to experience the complexities of different types of relationships. For this game, we decided to focus on closed monogamous and closed polyamorous relationships.

Players will get personal and relationship stats at different points during play. They draw from a pile to discover what their personal win conditions were, a stat they needed to increase. After entering an in-game relationship with other players, they, as a team, would draw a relationship stat card. This would also tell which stat they needed to increase as a team. Since it’s not possible to “win” a relationship, we wanted to make sure our win condition reflected what it’s like to be in a relationship – there are personal goals for everyone involved, as well as goals that everyone in the relationship strive for together.
