Mono / Poly

Mono/Poly is a board game that allows players to experience the complexities of different types of relationships. For the sake of keeping a feasible scope, we decided to focus on closed monogamous and closed polyamorous relationships.

Players will get personal and relationship stats at different points during play. They draw from a pile to discover what their personal win conditions were, a stat they needed to increase. After entering an in-game relationship with other players, they, as a team, would draw a relationship stat card. This would also tell which stat they needed to increase as a team. Since it’s not possible to “win” a relationship, we wanted to make sure our win condition reflected what it’s like to be in a relationship – there are personal goals for everyone involved, as well as goals that everyone in the relationship strive for together.
